It is a parody of spy stories. A parody is a way to poke fun at something. In the 1960s, spy movies like James Bond were very popular. This show made fun of those serious movies. It was created by Mel Brooks and Buck Henry. The show first aired on NBC on September 18, 1965. People loved it because it was silly and different. It changed how people thought about comedy on TV.
