He was born in 1815 in Lincoln, England. His father, John Boole Snr, worked as a shoemaker. Because his father's business struggled, George did not have much formal schooling. He had to teach himself many difficult subjects by reading books.

He learned Latin and modern languages on his own. By age 16, he was already teaching others to help support his family. He even started his own school when he was only 19 years old.

Boole is most famous for creating a special kind of math called Boolean algebra.

This math is used to solve logic puzzles. Logic is the study of how to think through problems to find the truth. Instead of just using numbers like one or two, Boolean algebra uses logic to see if things are true or false. This idea is the foundation of binary logic. It is a very important part of how digital circuits are designed today. Without his work, the computers we use every day might not exist.

His journey into big math roles began in Ireland.

In 1849, he became the very first professor of mathematics at Queen's College, Cork. This school is known today as University College Cork. While working there, he met Mary Everest, and they married in 1855. He lived in a house called Litchfield Cottage with his wife. Boole wrote many important books during this time. One of his most famous books was called "The Laws of Thought," published in 1854.

Boole was a very successful mathematician who won many honors.

In 1844, he won the first gold prize for mathematics from the Royal Society. He also earned the Keith Medal and honorary degrees from the Universities of Dublin and Oxford. He published about 50 different articles during his life. He studied many things, including differential equations and how to find probabilities. Even though he was self-taught, the smartest people in the world respected his amazing mind.

Today, we see Boole's ideas in almost every piece of technology.

Later scholars like Claude Shannon used his algebra to help design electronic systems. This work led to the creation of modern digital computers. We call our current time the Information Age because of these tools. Boole's life shows how much one person can achieve through curiosity. He turned the way we think into a math that runs the modern world. His impact is still felt every time we turn on a computer.
