This article covers sensitive topics: politics. Parents can manage visibility in Parental Controls.

Gaston Flosse is a leader from French Polynesia. This is a group of islands. He was born in 1931. He has been the president five different times. He led a political party for over 20 years. This party was called Tahoera'a Huiraatira.

Flosse worked closely with Jacques Chirac. Chirac was a leader in France. This bond helped the islands get money and aid. Flosse also worked in the French Senate. He served there for many years.

Sometimes, Flosse faced hard times. In 2006, a court found he was corrupt. This means he used his job in a wrong way. The court said he did this during a hotel purchase. He was given a suspended sentence. This means he did not go to jail right away.

Later, Flosse changed his mind about his work. For a long time, he wanted the islands to stay with France. In 2022, he said he wanted independence. This means he wanted the islands to rule themselves. He has been a part of politics for most of his life.
