All ministers are picked by the president. This happens after the prime minister gives advice. The leaders meet every Wednesday. They meet at the Élysée Palace in Paris. During these meetings, they talk about new laws. They also talk about the country's money and defense.

The government must also look after the army. It makes plans for the nation's safety. The government works with the Parliament. The National Assembly can dismiss the government if they choose. This keeps the leaders responsible to the people. Most of the daily work happens in different offices. Each minister has a small team to help them.
