It stretches from the Litani River in the north down to Mount Carmel in the south.

Much of the land is rocky and very high up. Many mountains rise from the terrain, such as Mount Tabor and Mount Meron. Because these mountains are high, they have mild temperatures and lots of rain. This weather helps many living things grow there. You can find prickly juniper and Lebanese cedar trees on the slopes.

Colorful wildflowers like cyclamens and paeonias also grow in the fields. Many birds fly through the Hula-Jordan corridor every year as they move between climates.

The history of this place goes back a very long time. Ancient Egyptian inscriptions from the 15th century BC mention the region. In the Hebrew Bible, Galilee was the home of the tribes of Naphtali and Dan. Later, the Neo-Assyrian Empire changed who lived in the area. During the Hasmonean period, the region was joined to the kingdom of Judea. This led to many Jewish people moving into the land.
