Experts used to think people only visited this place for worship. Now, they think people lived there in a village. They found tools for making food. They also found ways to collect rainwater in stone pits. The people ate wild grains like wheat and barley. They also hunted animals like gazelle. A man named Klaus Schmidt began to study the site in 1994. He found it was very important. Today, it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This means it is a place worth protecting for the whole world.
