The weather is mostly mild and windy. People call it the island of eternal spring. Sometimes, a sandstorm called a Calima blows from the Sahara Desert. This storm brings fine red dust. It can make the air hard to see through. The island is a popular place for beach trips and water sports. Many people live there in towns like Puerto del Rosario. This is the capital city.
