This right lets you visit new spots. It also lets you pick a new home or a new job. Many laws protect this right. For example, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights says everyone can travel within a country.

It also says people can leave and return to their own country.

Sometimes, governments make rules to limit travel. They might do this for safety or health. Some people face more rules than others. For instance, people who break laws may not be able to travel freely. In some places, women or certain groups have had fewer rights.

Travel between countries can also be tricky. Most countries use visas to check who enters. A visa is a special permit. Some groups have more freedom. In the European Union, people can stay in many countries for a long time.
