Floor plan

technology Maturity 11-13 Next article →

A floor plan is a special drawing of a building.

It shows how rooms and parts connect on one level. Think of it like a map of a house. It shows the view from above. Most plans are drawn as if looking from four feet up. This means you see things below that height. You do not see things that are much higher up.

Architects use these drawings to plan a space. A simple plan might only show big rooms. A plan for building a house has more detail. It shows where doors and windows go. It shows how thick the walls are. It even shows sinks, heaters, and lights. Some plans use 3D models. These are 3D floor plans. They use digital tools to show depth. This helps people see the scale of a room. It makes the plan easier to understand. These drawings help people see how a building works.
