Early flashlights used small glass bulbs. These bulbs used a tiny wire called a filament. They could break easily. Today, most people use LEDs. LEDs are light-emitting diodes. These are tiny parts that make light. LEDs are very good at saving power. This helps the battery last a long time. They are also much tougher than glass bulbs.
