It is made to look like a real snack. This helps people catch fish. Lures can be made from many things. Some are made of wood or metal. Others use soft plastic, rubber, or feathers.

Lures work by tricking a fish. They might have bright colors or a shiny flash. Some lures move, shake, or vibrate in the water.

This makes a fish think the lure is a real bug or a small fish.

There are many kinds of lures. Artificial flies look like tiny insects. Spoon lures are shaped like a spoon. They wobble and flash in the light. Some lures, called plugs, look just like fish. Even some lures have lights inside!

People use different ways to move them. You can cast a lure with a rod. You can also pull it behind a boat. This is called trolling. Using lures can help keep our oceans healthy. It also helps fish survive when people let them go.
