Some women feel a gush of liquid during an orgasm. This is called female ejaculation.

Scientists believe the fluid comes from Skene's glands. These are small parts near the urethra. The urethra is the tube where urine leaves the body.

This is different from squirting. Squirting is a sudden rush of liquid. That liquid often comes from the bladder and contains urine. Female ejaculation is a different thing.

For a long time, experts did not agree on this topic. Some thought it was just urine. Others thought it was a different fluid. This made it hard to study.

Many women report this happening. One study found that 35% to 50% of women felt it. Other studies show different numbers. The amount of fluid can change too. Some women feel very little. Others may release 1 to 5 ml of fluid.

People have written about this for a long time. Doctors in the 1600s saw it too. Even today, researchers keep studying how the body works.
