The group is very large, with 17 members in total. Some members are vocalists who sing the songs. Other members are performers who focus on dancing. This group is the main face of a company called LDH. The original members started this company in 2003. Since then, LDH has helped many other soloists and groups become successful. EXILE has sold more than 15,600,000 albums to its fans.

Making music and performing takes many different steps. The group has many different generations of members. Sometimes members join through big contests. In 2014, they held the EXILE Performer Battle Audition. They looked at 2,000 different people who wanted to join. Only five people were chosen to become new members. These new members joined the group to start a new era. This way, the group can keep performing for a long time.

The story of the group began many years ago. The leader, Hiro, was in a pop group called Zoo. That group split up in 1995. In 1999, Hiro started a new group called J Soul Brothers. This group later changed its name to EXILE in 2001. Later, Hiro helped form another group with the same old name. The group has seen many members come and go. For example, the singer Shun left in 2006 to sing alone. Then, a new vocalist named Takahiro joined the team.

EXILE has many impressive numbers in their history. Their album Exile Love was the top seller in Japan in 2008. It sold nearly 1.5 million copies on the Oricon charts. Their album Exile Ballad Best is even bigger. It has sold over 2 million copies so far. One song, called "Ti Amo," was a huge hit. It reached 1,000,000 digital downloads for ringtones. They also won the Grand Prix Award at the Japan Record Awards.

Their music connects to many parts of daily life. Some of their songs are even in video games. The song "The Next Door" was used in Street Fighter IV. They also made music for big events in Japan. The song "Rising Sun" helped people after the 2011 earthquake and tsunami. They even performed at the Rio Olympics in 2016. Their music travels all over Asia and the world. This shows how much people love their singing and dancing.
