She was a master of a style called sung poetry. This means she took beautiful poems and turned them into songs. Her performances were not just singing. They were like short, intense musical dramas. She used her acting skills to make every story feel real. People in Poland even gave her a special nickname. They called her "the Dark Angel" because of her unique stage personality. In the 1960s, people compared her to the great singer Édith Piaf.

Her way of performing was very special and required great skill. She studied at a music school to learn the piano. She also graduated from a drama school to learn how to act. This helped her combine vocal art with dramatic expression. She sang poems by many famous writers. Some were Polish, like Julian Tuwim or Krzysztof Kamil Baczyński. Others were international, such as Goethe or Rilke. By using these words, she made the music feel very meaningful. Each song became a small play for the audience to watch.

Ewa's career began in 1961 at a student cabaret called Cyrulik. After one year, she joined a famous group called Piwnica pod Baranami. There, she met a composer named Zygmunt Konieczny. They worked together for four years. Her first big success came in 1963 at the National Festival of Polish Song in Opole. She won an award for songs like "Karuzela z madonnami" and "Czarne anioły." Later that year, she was named the best artist by Polish journalists. She even went on to perform at the Olympia in Paris.

She became a star that traveled all over the world.
