Euharamiyida were a special group of early mammals. They also go by the name Eleutherodontida. These animals lived a very long time ago. They lived from the Middle Jurassic to the Early Cretaceous. Most lived in Eurasia. They might have lived in North America too. Scientists study them to learn about early mammal history.

We can learn how they lived by looking at their teeth. The shape of their teeth shows how they ate. Most were herbivorous, which means they ate plants. Some were omnivorous and ate both plants and other things. Some members of this group lived in trees. This way of life is called arboreal.

Some of these animals were very good at moving through trees. Some were even able to glide through the air. They were similar to modern flying squirrels or colugos. One such animal was named Shenshou. It lived during the Middle Jurassic in China.

Scientists still debate where these animals fit in history. Some think they belong to a group called Allotheria. This would make them related to multituberculates. Others think they are part of a different line called Mammaliaformes. There is also a debate about haramiyids. These were animals from the Late Triassic like Haramiyavia and Thomasia. Some studies say the two groups are not related at all.

Many different types of euharamiyidans have been named. These include groups like Arboroharamiyidae and Shenshouidae. Other names include Vilevolodon and Xianshou. Some known members are Cryoharamiya and Maiopatagium. We also find names like Millosodon and Sharypovoia. These names help scientists organize the many different kinds of early mammals.
