People grow them in other countries too. They grow very fast and provide useful timber. They are also used for making honey and essential oils.

These plants have many ways they work to grow. Every year, they add a new layer of bark. The outermost layer of bark eventually dies. In about half of the species, this dead bark falls off. These are called "smooth barks." They might shed bark in large slabs or small flakes.

Other botanists like Ferdinand von Mueller worked hard to study them in the 1800s. He helped create a very important account of the genus in 1867. Scientists still study how their leaves and buds work today.

You can see how these plants change as they grow. A young seedling often has different leaves than a mature tree. Some seedlings have leaves that grow in pairs on opposite sides. As the plant gets older, the leaves might look different. This change helps people identify which species they are looking at.

Some trees are even famous for being huge. The Eucalyptus diversicolor in Portugal is 72.9 meters tall. This is the tallest reliably measured tree in Europe. It has a girth of 5.71 meters. Eucalyptus plants are truly amazing and diverse.

These are the seedling, juvenile, intermediate, and adult phases.
