Esperanto is a special way to speak.

A man named L. L. Zamenhof made it. He was a doctor from Białystok. He wanted a way for people to talk easily. He hoped this would bring world peace.

He published his first book in 1887. He used a secret name. That name means "one who hopes."

This language is built from many other languages. Most of its words come from Romance languages. It also uses words from Greek and Slavic groups. It is easy to use. You can add small parts to words to make new ones. This helps you say more with fewer words.

Many people use Esperanto today. Some say up to two million people know it. You can find it on the internet. It is on Google Translate and Duolingo.

People who speak it are called Esperantists. They use it to make friends from all over the world.
