Making an epic is a very big job. These films are often the most expensive to produce. Filmmakers use many actors, which is called an ensemble cast. They use special costumes and huge, spectacular settings. A sweeping musical score often plays in the background. In the past, they used thousands of real people for action scenes. Now, filmmakers often use computer effects instead.
