He was born in Modena, Italy, on February 18, 1898. His father, Alfredo, ran a workshop that made metal parts. Growing up, Enzo spent much of his time in that workshop. When he was ten, he watched a big race in Bologna. Seeing the cars race inspired him to become a driver himself. This passion for speed would change the world of cars forever.

Enzo's journey into racing happened in several steps. First, he worked as a test driver for a company called CMN. He later joined the racing department of Alfa Romeo. In 1923, he won his first Grand Prix in Ravenna. After some years of driving, he decided to switch roles. He moved from driving the cars to organizing the teams. He founded a racing division called Scuderia Ferrari in 1929. This team used talented drivers to win many important races.

The history of his famous logo is quite interesting. The prancing horse emblem came from a pilot named Francesco Baracca. Baracca was an Italian fighter pilot during World War I. His mother gave him a necklace with a horse on it. After Baracca died in 1918, Ferrari used the symbol for his team. The shield first appeared on an Alfa Romeo racing car. Later, it was seen on a factory Ferrari in 1947.

Ferrari's company became a huge success in many ways. He started making his own cars under the name Ferrari S.p.A. in 1947. His team won many titles in Formula One racing. During his life, Ferrari won nine World Drivers' Championships. His teams also won eight World Constructors' Championships. To pay for his racing, he sold fast sports cars to the public. This helped make his brand famous all over the world.

You can see how his work connects to the cars we see today. Many people recognize the red cars and the horse shield. Even though he faced hard times, like a big group of workers leaving in 1962, he kept going. He eventually partnered with a large company called Fiat. This partnership helped the business grow and stay strong. Today, the place where his family once worked is a museum. It tells the story of a man who loved speed.
