Ady's writing style changed everything for Hungarian poetry. Before him, most poets used a traditional, folksy style. Ady broke away from these old ways to create something new. He used Symbolist techniques to express deep feelings. His poems often focused on God and Hungarian identity. He also wrote about the struggle to survive in modern society. His third book, *Új versek* (New Poems), helped start modern Hungarian poetry.

He was born into a Calvinist noble family that had little money. He studied law at the Reformed College in Debrecen. However, he decided to leave school to become a journalist. He moved to the city of Nagyvárad to find more culture. In 1903, he met a woman named Adél Brüll Diósy. He called her Léda and she became his muse.

Ady was a very busy writer and leader. In 1908, he helped start a writing group called *A Holnap* (Tomorrow). He also worked for a famous journal called *Nyugat* (The West). He served as one of its editors starting in 1912. Ady wrote more than 500 articles for the *Budapest Journal*. He even wrote a short story called "The duk-duk affair." This story mocked people who just followed his new trends. He was a leading figure in the literary world.

His later years were very difficult and full of change. He struggled with health problems caused by syphilis. He also felt worried as he saw war approaching Europe. In 1915, he married Berta Boncza, whom he called "Csinszka." Ady died in Budapest on 27 January 1919.

Today, people still remember him in many ways. His face has appeared on Hungarian stamps and 500 forint banknotes. A bust of him even sits in Toronto, Canada.
