Ady grew up in a noble family. He studied law but became a journalist instead. He wrote many articles for newspapers. He also wrote many poems.

Ady changed how people wrote in his country. His book, *Új versek* (New Poems), helped start modern Hungarian poetry. He wrote about big ideas. He wrote about love, faith, and his home. He also wrote about how life feels in the modern world. One woman, Léda, was a muse for him. This means she helped him find his talent.

Ady was part of a group called *A Holnap* (Tomorrow). This was a circle of writers. He also worked for a journal called *Nyugat* (The West). Ady faced many hard times. He was often sick and felt alone. He saw war coming to Europe. He died in Budapest in 1919.
