Elk have a very broad history and a wide range of impacts. During the Late Pleistocene, prehistoric populations lived across Eurasia and into Western Europe. Today, they are native to North America and parts of Asia. They have also been introduced to places like Argentina and New Zealand. In these new locations, their high adaptability can sometimes threaten local ecosystems.
