El Kantara

geography Maturity 5-7 Next article →

El Kantara is a town in Algeria. It sits near a deep gorge. People call it the mouth of the desert. The walls of the gorge are very high. Long ago, Roman soldiers built a bridge there. This bridge helped people move goods easily. They also built a road through the town. A train track follows that same old road. Some people think archers planted the first palm trees. It is a very special place to see.
