Argentina's economic story has changed a lot over time. In the early 1900s, it was one of the richest nations. It even ranked in the global top ten for wealth. During this golden age, many people moved there from Europe. This helped the country grow very fast between 1880 and 1905. Later, the country began to face many hard challenges. It went through cycles of big growth and sudden stops.

One big problem the country faces is called hyperinflation. This is when prices for things rise very, very fast. The Argentine peso has lost much of its value recently. In 2018, it lost about 50% of its value. It fell even more in the years that followed. By 2023, inflation was extremely high at 211.4%. This makes it very hard for people to plan their lives.

New leaders are now working to fix these big issues. A leader named Milei was elected in 2023. He began making new rules to change how money works. He cut spending to help the government save money. This helped create the first budget surplus since 2012. While these changes can be hard, they aim for stability. The goal is to make the economy steady for everyone again.
