It has three stages of life. First, it is a small larva in the water. Next, it becomes a bright orange eft. This eft lives on land. Finally, it grows into an adult.

The orange color is a warning. It tells hungry animals to stay away. The newt has a special poison in its skin. This helps it stay safe.

Newts can also do something amazing. If they lose a leg, they can grow it back. They can even grow back their spinal cord.

These little animals are very important. They help keep nature in balance.
