The name "Bahrain" has a very special meaning. In Arabic, it means "the Two Seas." People have many ideas about what these two seas are. Some think it means the salt water and fresh water underground. Others say it refers to the bay on each side of the coast. Some even thought it meant a large ocean and a peaceful lake.

For a very long time, the people here were seafaring peoples. This means their lives were built around the ocean. They used boats like the dhow to travel and work. They shared a similar culture and music styles. Many people still focus on marine industries today. This connection to the water is a very strong part of their identity.

This land has a history that goes back thousands of years. A famous place called Dilmun once existed here. It was a huge center for trading goods. People brought gold, pearls, and ivory to trade. They also traded timber, precious woods, and lapis lazuli. They even used the same weights and measures as people in the Indus Valley.

Ancient stories and myths make this place feel magical. In old tales, Dilmun was called the "Land of the Living." Some stories say it was the place where the sun rises. Other myths say it was where the world began. Even the famous Epic of Gilgamesh mentions this special land. It was seen as a faraway and almost mythical place.
