Some people call it training. It can be a sport or an art. The rider and horse work as a team. The rider uses their legs, seat, and reins to guide the horse. The horse follows a set plan of moves.

These moves are called a test.

In a test, the horse shows its natural skill. At high levels, the horse responds to tiny signals. The rider looks relaxed and easy. The horse moves with grace. Some moves are very special. A piaffe is a trot done in place. A passage is a trot with high, bouncy steps.

Judges watch the test in an arena. They give scores from zero to ten. A ten is excellent. A zero means the move was not done. Judges sit in different spots to see every angle. They check if the horse is straight and strong.

Many horses can learn dressage. Warmblood horses are very popular in the Olympics. Andalusian horses are also used.
