Dorothea Klumpke Roberts was an American astronomer. She studied the stars and the sky. She moved from California to Paris, France. At the University of Paris, she studied music first. Later, she turned to astronomy. She earned a PhD, which is a high degree. Her big paper was about the rings of Saturn.

Dorothea held a big job. She was the Director of the Bureau of Measurements. This was a part of the Paris Observatory. She led this group for ten years. She also helped other women scientists do their work. In 1896, she went to Norway. She wanted to see a solar eclipse. A solar eclipse is when the moon blocks the sun.
