The stories were made by Terry Pratchett. He was a very popular writer in the UK. The books take place on a flat planet. This world sits on four elephants. Those elephants stand on the back of a giant turtle.

The books are often funny. They make fun of old fairy tales and myths. They also talk about real things like politics and science. There are many different groups of characters. Some books follow wizards at a school called Unseen University. Other books follow the City Watch, which is a police force. Some stories are about witches who act as healers.

One famous character is Death. He is a seven-foot skeleton in a black robe. He rides a pale horse named Binky. Death helps souls move to the next world. He even has a human apprentice. Many people love these stories. Over 80 million books have been sold. They have been translated into 37 languages.
