Scientists use a special way to study how things react to power. This is called dielectric spectroscopy.

They use an electric field to test a sample. This field helps them see how the parts of the sample move.

There are many ways a sample can react. In some cases, the tiny electrons move. This is called electronic polarization. Other times, the center of an atom moves. We call this atomic polarization.

Some parts move more slowly. This is called relaxation. This happens when dipoles, or tiny electric parts, try to line up with the field.

This tool is very useful in many jobs. People use it to check if fruit is ripe. It can also find bad germs in food.

Scientists use it to test new batteries. It even helps doctors learn about the human body. It can help find how much water is in a person. This tool lets us see things that are too small to touch.
