Doctors in this field are called dermatologists. They study the skin, hair, and nails. They can treat over 3,000 different conditions. Some problems are simple, like itchy skin. Others are very serious, like bad burns.

Dermatologists go to school for a long time. In the United States, they train for four years after medical school. Some doctors choose to study even more. They might pick a special area to focus on.

One area is cosmetic dermatology. These doctors help with how the skin looks. They might use lasers or fillers. Another area is pediatric dermatology. These doctors help children with skin issues. They also help teens with acne. Acne happens when pores get clogged with oil or dead skin.

Some doctors use teledermatology. This is a way to help patients from far away. They use computers to see photos or talk to people. This helps them treat minor issues quickly.
