DC Talk was a very popular music group. Three men started the band in 1987. They met at Liberty University in Virginia. The members were Toby McKeehan, Michael Tait, and Kevin Max Smith.

The group's music changed over time. Their first albums used hip hop. This is a style of rap music. Later, they made pop rock music. Their album Jesus Freak was a big hit. It helped them win a Grammy Award. A Grammy is a prize for great music.

DC Talk sang about their Christian faith. They also sang about social issues. For example, they sang about racism in a song called "Walls." Their music reached many people. Some of their albums sold hundreds of thousands of copies.

The three men took a break in 2000. They began to make music on their own. They each started solo careers. However, they never truly broke up. They have sang together on cruises and on special songs. In 2025, some radio stations stopped playing their music. This happened after claims of harm were made against Michael Tait.
