Many people called him the "Father of Advertising." This is because he changed how companies sell things.

He believed ads should be based on facts. Before he started his own agency, he worked at Gallup. Gallup is a place that does research. He learned to study how people act. He used these facts to make great ads. He worked for big brands like Rolls-Royce and Dove soap. One famous ad for Rolls-Royce mentioned how quiet the car was.

Ogilvy started his own company called Ogilvy & Mather. He did not have much money at first. He only had $6,000 in his bank account. He worked hard to find new clients. He believed that customers are smart. He did not like ads that treated people like they were not bright.

He also wrote books about his work. One book was called "Confessions of an Advertising Man." Later in life, he moved to a large home in France. He lived at an estate called Château de Touffou. He stayed busy with his work and his many ideas.
