Dale Carnegie was a famous American writer and teacher. He was born in 1888 on a farm in Missouri. As a boy, he worked very hard. He woke up at 3 a.m. to feed pigs and milk cows.

Carnegie loved to speak in front of groups. He joined a debate team in school. Later, he taught classes at the YMCA. In his first class, he had no notes. He told students to speak about things that made them angry. This helped them feel brave when speaking to others.

He wrote many books to help people. His most famous book is How to Win Friends and Influence People. It was a huge bestseller. He also wrote How to Stop Worrying and Start Living.

One of his main ideas was very simple. He said we can change how others act. We do this by changing how we act toward them first.

By the time he died in 1955, millions of people read his books. Many people also finished his special training courses. His work helps people gain self-confidence today.
