The Danish Realm is a group of three parts.

They work together under one king. These parts are Denmark, the Faroe Islands, and Greenland.

Denmark is in Europe. It is mostly flat land. Most people in the realm live here. There are over six million people in Denmark.

The Faroe Islands are in the North Atlantic ocean. They have rocky coasts and cliffs. About 52,000 people live there.

Greenland is very different. It is the largest part of the realm. It makes up 98% of the total area. Most of Greenland is covered in ice. Only about 56,000 people live there. It is the least crowded place in the world.

Each part has its own way to rule. This is called autonomy. The Faroe Islands got home rule in 1948. Greenland got home rule in 1979. Later, in 2009, Greenland got self rule. This means they make many of their own choices. They still share some things with Denmark.
