A newspaper works by sharing news every single day. DN is a morning newspaper for its readers. It shares ideas through an editorial page. This page shows the paper's own views. The paper says it is "independently liberal." This means it has its own way of thinking. It does not follow a formal group anymore.

The story of DN started a long time ago. Rudolf Wall founded the paper in December 1864. The very first issue came out on 23 December 1864. In 1874, it became a joint stock company. The Bonnier Group has owned it since 1909. Karl Otto Bonnier bought the last shares then. His father, Albert, had owned some shares since 1888.
