The stones are also called rocks.

The goal is to reach a target called the house. The house is a set of four circles on the ice.

To score, a stone must be close to the center. This center point is called the button. Teams want to have the most stones near the button at the end of a round.

Players can make the stone move in a curve. This curve is called a curl. They do this by spinning the stone as they let it go. Two sweepers can also help. They use brooms to sweep the ice in front of the stone.

Sweeping makes the stone go farther and straighter.

Curling is a very old game. People found a stone from the year 1511 in Scotland. This means the sport was played long ago. Today, people play curling all over the world. It is even part of the Winter Olympic Games.
