People use commerce to get what they need.

Trade is a part of commerce. Trade is when buyers and sellers swap things for money. Some trade stays in one country. This is called domestic trade. Other trade happens between different countries. This is called international trade.

Many tools help trade work smoothly. These are called aids to trade. Banks help with money. Ships and trucks move goods. Even ads help people find new things.

Commerce has changed a lot over time. Long ago, people used a system called barter. This meant they swapped goods directly. Later, people made money to make trade easier. In the past, trade routes like the Silk Road linked far lands. Today, we use the Internet for electronic commerce. This lets us buy things online.

Commerce can help the world grow. It creates many new jobs. It also brings new ideas to different places. However, it can cause problems too. It can lead to waste or hurt the earth. People now work to make commerce more fair.
