People celebrate a Cold Food Festival.

It is a special time in spring.

Long ago, people did not use fire. They ate cold food to show respect. This was to honor a man named Jie. He was very loyal to his leader.

One story says a fire hurt him. To remember him, people stayed away from fire. They ate food that was not hot.

Some people ate a sweet rice dish. It had bits of apricot pits in it. This made the food taste special.

Families also visit the graves of their kin. They clean the spots where they rest. It is a way to show love.
