Moving arms called hands turn in a circle.

A short hand shows the hour. It moves the slowest of all. A long hand shows the minutes. It moves faster than the hour hand.

Some clocks have a very thin hand. This is the second hand. It moves the fastest. It makes a full circle every minute.

All the hands move in the same way. They turn clockwise. This means they move toward the higher numbers.

Clocks can use many kinds of marks. Some use plain numbers. Others use special shapes. You can use them to tell time!
