Clive Dunn was a famous English actor. He loved to make people laugh. He was known for playing old men. One famous role was Lance Corporal Jones in Dad's Army. He played this part on TV from 1968 to 1977. He was only 48 years old then. He used makeup to look much older. Because he was younger than the other cast, he did much of the funny physical acting.

Before he was a star, Clive served in the army. He was a trooper in the 4th Queen's Own Hussars. During the Second World War, he was a prisoner of war. He was held in Austria for four years. After the war, he went back to acting.

Clive also made music. His song "Grandad" was a number one hit in 1971. He sang it with a children's choir. Later in life, he moved to Portugal. He became an artist there. He painted many portraits and seascapes. He spent his time making art until his sight failed. He died in 2012. His friends said he was a great joy to work with.
