One meaning is a group of students. They attend a specific lesson or course. A class can also be the course itself. You might take a class in drama.

A class can also mean a group of students at one level. These students might all graduate in the same year. People call this the Class of 2005. These people can meet again later. They have class reunions to talk and be social.

Sometimes, the word means the classroom. This is the room where the lesson happens. In Taiwan, a class is a small group. These groups come from one big department.

In some places, a class is a grade. This shows how old a child is. In Ireland, India, and Poland, this is common. A 1st class is for kids aged 4 to 5. A 6th class is for kids aged 11 to 12. A 12th class is for those aged 17 to 18. This helps students learn with others their own age.
