Adichie uses many different ways to tell her stories. She mixes African ideas with Western ones in her writing. She often uses her Igbo culture to shape her books. Many of her stories take place in Nsukka, where she grew up. She also uses real memories to make her stories feel true. For example, she used her father's stories about the Biafran War. This helped her write her second novel, Half of a Yellow Sun. She wants her readers to see the world in many ways.

Adichie's journey as a writer began a long time ago. She was born on 15 September 1977 in Enugu, Nigeria. As a child, she only read stories written in English. She used to write stories about white, blue-eyed children. Everything changed when she was ten years old. She discovered African books by authors like Chinua Achebe. She also read books by Buchi Emecheta. These authors inspired her to write about her own life and culture.

She has achieved many great things in her career. Her first novel, Purple Hibiscus, was published in 2003. It has been translated into more than forty different languages. In 2008, she won a special prize called a MacArthur Fellowship. She also joined the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2017. Adichie has given many famous talks to large crowds. Her TED Talk, "The Danger of a Single Story," was given in 2009.
