A chemical test is a way to study a sample. It can show what is in the sample. It can also show how much of it is there. These tests help people follow rules or make new products. They can even help in court cases.

Some tests look for things in our bodies. Clinistrips test for sugar in urine. The Phadebas test looks for saliva. Other tests find things like bile pigments or proteins.

There are many ways to test for different things. To find fat, you add ethanol to a sample. Then you shake it. Next, you add water and shake it again. If fat is there, the mix turns milky white.

Scientists also test for metals. A flame test uses a flame to find them. Some tests look for water using copper sulfate. Other tests can find things like starch or nitrogen. These tests give us important data for science and medicine.
