It sits in a large, flat area called the Gran Chaco. Big rivers like the Paraná and Paraguay flow near its edges.

These rivers help mark the borders of the province.

The weather in Chaco is subtropical. This means it is mostly warm. The east side is wet and humid. The west side is much drier. Summers are very hot. In the winter, cold air can move in from the south. This can bring frost and freezing temperatures.

Many people live in Chaco. The largest city is Resistencia. People there speak Spanish. They also speak three other official languages. These are Kom, Moqoit, and Wichí.

Farming is very important here. Chaco grows 60% of the cotton in Argentina. Farmers also grow soy, corn, and sugar cane. They raise cattle for beef, too. Some cattle are special because they handle the heat well. This work helps the province grow.
