These birds are very good at moving to new lands. They started in parts of Africa, Asia, and Europe. Now they live all over the world. They moved into the Americas and Australia very fast. This happened because they like to live near humans. They follow cows and horses in big fields.

When large animals walk, they stir up bugs. The egrets catch these insects to eat. They also eat ticks and flies. This helps the cows stay healthy. This is a special bond between the birds and the animals.

Cattle egrets build nests out of sticks. They make these nests in trees or shrubs. They often live in large groups called colonies. These groups stay near water, like lakes or rivers. During the breeding season, they grow pretty orange feathers. The males may also have bright red bills and legs.
