These clothes feel relaxed and spontaneous. They are not formal like suits. Many people call this leisurewear when they want to focus on comfort.

This style grew from many different things. In the 1920s, people wore sports clothes like golf skirts. As more people rode bikes, they began wearing culottes. These were a type of short pant. Later, denim workwear and military styles became popular too. In the late 20th century, sports gear like jogging suits added to the look.

Casual clothes use many soft materials. You might wear cotton, denim, or flannel. Some people like fleece to stay warm. Other styles use lace or big jewelry. This lets people show their own unique taste.

Casual wear also changed how men and women dress. It helped create unisex fashion. In the 1960s, women began wearing T-shirts and jeans. Men even grew their hair long. Today, men often wear jeans with a T-shirt. It is a way to feel free and comfortable.
