She was famous for her roles in romantic musicals. Many people went to the cinema just to see her. She was one of the biggest box-office draws of her time. In fact, she became the highest paid movie star of her era. People often called her the "original Superstar." She brought much joy to audiences during the pre-war and post-war years.

Her journey to stardom began with singing and dressmaking. She graduated from the Maffei Fashion School in 1934. She studied decorative arts and dressmaking there. Later, she worked at a radio station called KZRH. In 1936, she won a popular contest called Miss Radio. This victory helped her move into acting. Her very first feature film was Mahiwagang Binibini in 1939. She even played a double role in that movie.

Life was not always easy for her during the war. The Japanese occupation of the Philippines stopped all film production. During this hard time, her first husband, Ramon Navales, was killed by Japanese forces. This loss led her to join a guerrilla movement called the Hukbalahap. She served as a sharpshooter to help her country. She even used a false mustache to hide her identity during raids. She lived in places like Silang, Cavite, to stay safe.

After the war, her career reached new heights. She starred in many blockbuster films like Guerilyera and Probinsyana in 1946. In 1949, she starred in Kampanang Ginto. This role made her the highest paid star of that period. She won a FAMAS Award for Best Actress in 1953 for the film Inspirasyon. She also worked with her famous partner, Rogelio de la Rosa. They were a very popular "loveteam" in twelve different films. Their work together set a standard for many stars who came later.

Rosales retired from the film industry in 1965. She chose to live a very private and reclusive life. She wanted to keep her image as a glamorous movie queen. Because of this, she rarely gave interviews or took photos. Even at the 1983 FAMAS Awards, she only appeared as a silhouette. Her legacy lives on in many ways today. A part of her hometown, Rosales, Pangasinan, is named after her. She was also inducted into the Eastwood City Walk of Fame in 2006.
