Icahn runs a large company called Icahn Enterprises. This company is based in Sunny Isles Beach, Florida. He is the main owner and leader of this business. His work has made him very wealthy over many years. Today, his net worth is between $6.7 billion and $7 billion.

Icahn uses a special way to make money through investing. He finds companies that he thinks will become more valuable. He buys a large stake, which means a big piece, of those companies. Once he owns a piece, he pressures the leaders to change their rules. He wants these changes to help the people who own the company. This way of working is called activist investing. He was one of the first people to make this a common strategy for big funds.

Icahn's journey began in New York City. He was born on February 16, 1936, in Brooklyn. His family lived in the Far Rockaway area of Queens. His father was a cantor and a teacher. His mother was also a schoolteacher.

This happened after he took control of Trans World Airlines. He sold parts of the airline to pay back money he owed. He also made big deals with companies like Marvel Comics and Texaco.

Many people recognize the names of companies Icahn has invested in. He has owned pieces of Apple, Netflix, and eBay. He even invested in the video game publisher Take-Two Interactive. He has also worked with companies like Yahoo! and eBay. Some of these investments made him huge profits. For example, he made over $800 million from Netflix in less than one year. He has even dealt with companies like McDonald's and Lyft. His career shows how much one person can influence big businesses.
