Captain Ahab is a famous character from a book.

He is the captain of a whaling ship named the Pequod. A large white whale named Moby Dick once bit off Ahab's leg. Now, he wears a prosthetic leg made of ivory. This leg has a flat part he uses to do math. Ahab also has a white mark on his face and neck.

Ahab is not looking for oil or meat. He is looking for revenge. He nails a gold coin to the ship's mast. He tells the crew the first person to see the whale wins it. He even gives his tools to a blacksmith to make a special harpoon. This shows how much he cares only about the whale.

Ahab is a very strong and dark person. Some people say he acts like a king from the Bible. Others say he is like a rebel from famous poems. In the end, Ahab finds the whale. The whale pulls him into the sea. The ship also sinks. This sad story is still told in movies and plays today.
